hello everybody many of you already remember me from my Spanish lessons my Spanish course that's been going on for over three years and at the beginning of my course I started using a camera that was not the most appropriate one so many of my students have been asking me to remake my many first lessons using a better camera better lighting so we have a little better light and so that the first lessons can be easier to read and to follow so here I am this is again our Spanish lesson number one the alphabet so this is the beginning of everything in every Western tongue the out of it those of you who are new here maybe you still don't know that in my website you would find the index or the list of lessons where you can have the links they ordered by number of all our lessons okay we have hundreds of lessons and you will also find the free quizzes and tests that continent are - lessons okay so if you'll be following my course you will want to do the tests and the quizzes because it will be super super helpful to practice and to be able to continue learning with a stronger base okay let's begin with a Spanish alphabet so in black in black written the letter okay each letter from the Spanish alphabet and in green the phonetics as as correctly as I could make it up of how you would pronounce it reading it in English but of course and help you so you can pay attention to my own pronunciation on how to pronounce each Spanish letter and then help you to pronounce Spanish sounds ok so I forgot to write down the Spanish alphabet in Spanish so let me write it down for you a I'm Phi Beta is annulus a laugh a little spaniel okay or instead of alkalete oh we can also use the word i whistle al you both words are as correct is Alice Adagio spaniel or Ella Trudeau is animal okay good ah they say day a if we hit actually first I'll read it fast later and focus a bit more on each letter so I can help you to pronounce it correctly and I'll give you some hints on stunning Spanish phonetics okay ah they say the a is Kate Adie Kodaka in Iliad in any inning or bit early if they who they or open ee-vie Iggy Iggy yoga say that okay before reading it one more time I want to give you some hints on how to pronounce correctly some of the Spanish from so in Spanish from Spain so I mean in in most the most parts of Spain in Europe this would be set up like the thi English theta right however in all Latin American countries and a few parts of Spain there is no sound like food food everything is pronounced like a simple F okay so since I'm you're running from South America and I know how everybody else pronounces in Latin America I can tell you that fit-up is pronounced theta okay in the confidence in Spain to be theta good letter me it's called away over why choose to distinguish it from Bay okay English is more precise than Spanish in the correct pronunciation of consonants it has always been Spanish unfortunately tends to laziness in pronunciation of consonants what does it mean originally in Spanish Bay and way we're distinguishable right good the same as in English however that a relatedness people would pronounce everything the same so the letter V began to be called as obey so not to mistake it for Bay okay and unfortunately for many years already officially the sound of V and big are the same what does it mean that if you want to speak as in good old Spanish and be very distinctive and exact to pronounce good and verb that's perfect I try to do that however if you say good book to any of those a book and book if you pronounce like that it's officially accepted and it's the norm nowadays I will finish our first class right here just sort not to make this video too long for some of you but in my next class five Spanish lesson number two and be teaching you some Spanish phonetics so I will show you how to pronounce correctly most of these letters in Spanish I'll be focusing on the the most difficult ones for English speakers as some examples how we are pronounced in one way in such examples and some other examples on how the same letter would be pronounced in a different way okay I'll speak especially of the Spanish are okay the letter in a letter said okay and some is Spanish letter that can have more than one pronunciation so this is going to be an important thing to keep on moving on a long work on Spanish course so please stay with me into lesson number two thank you hello everybody so in our first class I told you the Spanish alphabet and here I'll teach you how to pronounce our letters and Spanish okay so I want to focus on a few letters especially to give you a little bit of the background so for example talking of letter Z or Zed okay in Spanish it can be set up okay fit up like the English th sound okay suit like like in the sub okay this theta this would be the Spanish pronunciation I mean Spanish from Spain okay the European Spanish pronunciation theta however in Latin America and I'm speaking of all Latin America spit that would be pronounced theta okay so in Latin America there is no such sound okay like the English th okay so it's always the some the soft s sound for for every time you you see letter the S letter letter Z and the often letter C okay it's never too okay in Latin America in Spain this will be food so it's just a matter of profusion right not to reload okay the aeneas sound in it is a typical is Spanish letter how will it pronounced I noticed a sound does not exist in English but it does exist in Italian in Italian you produce the same sound with a GN okay yes like in their liking no key okay no key is a variety of pasta milky Italian okay so I know and there are many Italian communities in the in the United States so maybe some of you are familiar with the new sounds from Italian okay the in it is exactly the same as the new sound from Italian in it if you cannot pronounce really knew the in sound the most similar thing would be an R sound okay like this forgotten instead of pronouncing a Myint if you're having a hard time risk you can say a me a and I be okay in yet any eat and ie this is not exactly the right thing but is the most similar to the right thing okay Amy once you you will manage to pronounce in yet you can try to pronounce any onion okay good Double L in Spanish Double L has a you pronunciation ok double L is pronounced same as Y in Spanish okay why is pronounced give G okay it's also a pronunciation that does not exist in English so for example the pronoun i' in spanish is yo yo how do you pronounce that why it's like if you were in unsticking the back of your tongue from your upper palate yo okay go I know it's a I often hear that the English speakers have a hard time pronouncing that yo so if you cannot most English speakers they just pronounce it as a regular on yo yo which is not the real thing but it is similar to the real thing okay so you cannot say yo then you say simply yo until you manage to make up this sound okay Double L Double L is pronounced exactly lambda y yo be careful the Y is pronounced exactly as a Spanish I hear always when it is at the end of a word okay so what was the Y is followed in the same word buy a vowel it is pronounced like Double L give give okay however when it's at the end of the word or standing alone like the word end which in Spanish is a is the word why just one letter there it's pronounced like an odd it's proud okay good now in the maybe decades ago or but not so many but some decades ago there was another letter computer in our alphabet which would letter CH okay it would here now it has been removed officially from the alphabet that's why I'm not mentioning it here but CH as a letter was pronounced or read Chik Chik why because CH has a unique and independent sound difference to C + 2 H therefore for for a long time the reallocating and finally the institute that officially determines what expansion but is not have decided that letter chain would be part of our ultimate after letter c okay letter h in spanish is mute and i mean totally mute not like it like in english where h is pronounced like a like a soft exhalation right in spanish is it totally mute with the only example of the age right there it is pronounced like an english should exit ok w let w Spanish end letter K here and letter K here our controversial letters from alphabet because there is no original Spanish word with W or with K ok therefore some there is some controversy is saying that they should be removed from our alphabet however there they are used for some Spanish better said for some a foreign words that are incorporated into Spanish okay so for example the word kilogram kilogram okay is written with k keeo Metro from kilometer is written with K why because these are foreign words coming from Greek kilo kilo means a thousand in Greek right so to mark that it's a word that comes from another language is the K has remained in the word okay instead of using it using qu right we could we could customize it using a cue where is the letter Q Q and you replace in K however there is this a will to make sure that it's a word that comes from a different language okay and will W whiskey traditionally and still accepted with W whiskey because it's a foreign word however in the recent decades it has also been accepted in a very conservative way that actually I hate like this whiskey okay whiskey it looks terrible however it's officially accepted okay okay still a nice way of speaking out and spelling whiskey right however whiskey the English spelling is also okay an accepted in Spanish right okay so this is all for today's phonetic class and in our third class let's continue with some more tips and I want to teach you how each letter is pronounced instead thanks and I'll see you in our next class with us hi there let me start saying that Spanish is a mostly a valid oriented tongue but when English English is very a focused and very exact on the right pronunciation of the consonants so you can easily notice if you are an English speaker that Spanish speakers native Spanish speakers when they speak English we are not so good at pronouncing the consonants the end of the words right the double consonants ok that's because Spanish unfortunately from my point of view tends too much towards a laziness of pronouncing correctly the consonants so the Spanish speakers we tend to round up the consonants and sometimes even a simplified double consonants for not pronouncing with the last letter of a word if it is a consonant ok so that's very unfortunate but it it happens it's a fact ok so on the other hand Spanish is very volatile ok and the volumen Spanish have one single pronunciation one single sound and it's very flat very flat very open okay so a the same inconvenience Spanish speakers have when speaking in English there their consonants are consonants are so loudly ok English speakers tend to to the can't pronounce a usually very very flat in a vowel ok so that's a distinction a characteristic of Spanish so letter A is not a no ah no ah up ah letter e in Spanish is it it's not a it's not a is that E is it flex a okay a slap there is no variation of the tone right it's one-to-one sound same thing with our four as a key or right short right EEP EEP EEP or love me you see there's no tone not I with oh it's full or love oh it's not Oh or oh it's Oh simply very flat same thing with you right there are you it oh it's pronounced it wrong you see there's no more than one single tone therefore our value while in English this would be a I II owe you a I II owe you in Spanish it io e Oh okay good so whatever we pronounced with a vowel it's just one flat monotone sound for example there is a a very common Spanish name that I frequently hear that it's very hard to pronounce an image and man okay this has an accent here and none okay so the e the H is mute as I said before the letter e is slap a the letter A is slapped up none the M is typical M and V are I'll talk above the arm a minute okay so mmm there keep in mind try to pronounce all vowels super super flat in Spanish good let's talk of letter R letter R has two different sounds in Spanish okay we have the rough or tough are or hard are the and have a soft arm okay so when we have a hard art and soft off when beyond right at the beginning of the word it is a hard R or when we are is doubled it is the hard are rarer but when we are is not at the beginning of the word and there's not double it is a soft our trip okay so let me show you this with an example what better example than my own name and last name okay there's a good exercise for practicing the are as you will see now Rodrigo that's my given name fair lady okay Rodrigo sorry I said I did my family name good see how the first part is pronounced the heart R this R in the middle is not double it is the three did not delete three okay this are insulator my last name is doubled therefore it is pronounced little lame this last R is not dulled and is in the middle of the word therefore it is pronounced rip right a soft sound yeah Wow so this is relieved Oh send later let me separate it in syllable Rho D go say lay ha okay roll it over later so how do you pronounce BR expansion the English R is made not with a your throat and the tongue goes rolled back later right you roll your tongue backwards a and it doesn't actually touch your ear tonic if your palate okay or or or slightly vary in the back to pronounce the Spanish are your tongue is not rolled backwards okay it remains forward and they slightly touching the front of your upper to late okay and it's a sound of the vibration of the tongue near your your frosty okay the upper front teeth but you don't touch your teeth okay so let me give you a tip on how to porosity Peter and this is not the exact thing but it's the most similar thing if you haven't troubled tries to pronounce TR okay or dr okay so try to say to turn or the okay that way you can pronounce the roman art sound okay I don't know why it is called Rolling Rock rolling or some but I heard the English speakers call it that place so I'm just repeating what I heard so once you manage to browse it through and just remove the T and the D and you can say little or Brewer okay or simply through short right good so that above letter R let me pronounce before we continue with some more phonetically at the tips then in from a all the letters of the Spanish alphabet ah they say the it will hit a chip eat Jota cut it is evening in email or pick who every a see fit boom movie W be a kiss each Liga theta this why to differentiate from letter I we call it e greater so this would be Greek i okay why is called Greek I what because what in English we call I is actually the left hand I okay so this is lacking I and this is Greek i okay in Spanish ill Athena or simply II and this is III error in some countries they can call a gorilla also get right here now I've mentioned before that why an alien are pronounced do you okay like in yo I do however in Spanish from Argentina and from Uruguay I confirm your life we pronounce these two some while an alien like the English CH okay c8 sorry sh-sh therefore the pronoun I John is pronounced short in a Latina in the new life the word for rain which in Spanish is Julia okay Julia in Argentina and Uruguay is pronounced fuya fuya so if you ever come across somebody speaking spanish and pronouncing the sound which actually does not exist in in Spanish okay if if a Spanish speaker uses the sound any time then he is either from Argentina or from Europe life okay good well let's finish our tracks here so not to make it classes too long and let's continue speaking of this in our class number four and welcome back let's continue reviewing the Spanish alphabet okay if our x value is final Eloisa value espanol this means to Spanish out of it there are other words for a visa value which is a potato okay Alfa basil I'm sorry tone is also masculine word and Spanish that means it's in Alice's on you and not la value and is not it's a laugh a little and not la alpha by 2 because leads to nouns are not students okay - perrito espanol those words mean the same so you can say either way we'll have alpha beta or another Salado and this word is comes from Greek okay well this one comes more from Latin right but both words are used in Spanish good I want to focus on the word a spaniel you're using letter Union means it's time you early if you can't pronounce incorrectly you can say is funny old right which is not exactly sounding the same but it is very similar okay it's funny one if you cannot pronounce commune okay okay now let me read one more time the Spanish alphabet so we practice and you get familiar with the right pronunciation and that'll give you some examples how you work the letters ah they say this in evening hit action E hold up stop alien ages amen amen amen Oh Hey oh la xa take full movie double is a 80s eagle yoga set up okay now before we I give you some examples using each one of these letters let me give you a little bit of information regarding recycle I wrote a Larissa value is annually why because I believe this is the answer that used for all the Spanish talents okay why do you like say all the Spanish funds officially speak more technically speaking the word Spanish is not one single language why Spanish comes from Spain the country Spain or the kingdom of Spain okay the kingdom of Spain has more than one official language the main of which they want to deliver the main language is a can still in Spanish right that's what we are learning and that's what spoken in most of the Spain and in all Latin America except Brazil agrees okay good so we are learning Castilian Spanish however Catalan which is spoken in some of regions of staying is also Spanish okay Basque language is also Spanish Galician language which is very similar to Portuguese is also Spanish because it's unofficial tongue spoken in a region inside the kingdom of Spain okay so technically speaking Spanish is more than one ton so we are learning Castilian Spanish okay so this distinction is important because some some Spanish peoples who do not speak Castilian better speak Alicia norvasc may in a funded bit offensive if you say that only Castilian Spanish is Spanish okay now word with a plow has gone up by lava Kanade means words with a Avilan which is airplane beyond bore row for donkey Casa for house a dado for finger in quaint room for meetings or gathering in blender Sarika for factory good for god of force either optional for hydrogen you see how H is newt in the rock you know India for India okay quail for game where you mean game and I cannot talk about game for hunting but killing for playing keel okay okay helo can can work for kilogram kilogram Oh or geo metro or whatever started killer okay with L will be local local means crazy crazy local junior rain mama of course okay mama for mom or mother for mother Nino Nino for boy boy okay Nino but Nino also works for child such and the the J generic way for addressing either a boy or a girl okay Nina would also be child Leonard with a mia the only word I come up with now is Yong Yong Yong Yong is silly right Phil you're not very smart no no or wool or Buddha are type of tree sorry this is another the best way to learn almost maybe let's try other words Oscar is the name and actually all the words that I'm thinking of right now that start with the all sound have an age before like humble for shoulder start with age not an O or really for horrible starts with age as well instead of both so now I can't come up with with a word that starts with oh sorry except for given names like all-star okay so in some Latin American countries you will pronounce Oscar therefore it has a teammate an accent and some other countries like Argentina you say Oscar therefore without feeling the pain we have father father there or father okay for what there are two words k in Spanish with the accent it means what without the accent and it means that right I said that blah blah blah blah the likud que blah blah blah blah okay so these are two different words we are we have real for River with F we have five ten fat then is the time where we cook a steak for example ok t/o for uncle Pio Universal Universal for universe vodka for cow whiskey okay with you it's a foreign word that is accepted in Spanish see your phone for data phone okay the musical instrument ting ting ting ting ting okay we are with y yo yo is pronounced hi I go home yo booyakasha with then of course zebra okay that was also swinging off the bottle for sure this is shoes zapato in Spain they will pronounce it sabado sabado in Latin America it would be sabato tapa okay good let's read the words one more time and this time I will give you the article of each one of these nouns okay because in Spanish we have masculine noun and feminine nouns and now I will give your hips how to determine whether it is masculine or feminine this is a avión masculine el muro la casa el tiro en cuando la fábrica ill gold is broken oh la india in flavor a kilo is loco la deuda la mama El Nino in union most colors of your name so while we can put an article before a given name right like the John for example it sounds very unsophisticated okay a so you can do it people do it but a in some environments it may be too unsophisticated to put an article before give a name okay Nyonya is an adjective it's not a noun therefore adjectives don't have articles don't carry on schools however adjectives in Spanish when they refer to a masculine noun they end with o when they refer to a feminine noun they end with a so simply adjective is ending in oh I can see an assumed that it's referring to a masculine person force or things okay therefore I can put the masculine article a in you know the silly okay is father or the father okay is an adverb so we cannot put an article here in Rio for the riddle laugh and thin MP is universal la vaca is whiskey L feel funny joke is a pronoun so that has no article you don't say the I when talking about I mean okay la serie and in sabato okay as you may have in further reading the the nouns that end it with an O or masculine in Spanish therefore they carry the article a the nouns that end with a letter A our feminine therefore the calories the article la feminine luck kavika some Spanish nouns don't finish with a or don't finish with oh okay like the word Avion for airplane so how can we identify whether it is masculine or feminine in this case the the vowel that comes before the letter n is an own if this indicates that it is a masculine now in Avion for the airplane it is masculine the if the feminine will be in with a at the end so there are some nouns okay that we can switch from masculine to feminine okay for example like the word for dog pero para okay pero for a for dog Bella with a four-pitch okay so it's not the case with a yacht because Avion is a have no gender you cannot to have a male and a female plane right but for all announced that can finish with all end right and that can be switched to feminine yes you would add a letter a to convert it to feminine okay letter a would switch to feminine and O n will be Damascus okay so word for God's the gods any words okay it's a no last vowel of God in the okay no masculine la india ends with a okay let's see however that can be a bit difficult to identify a local authority because we end with over a Oscar in the name as I mentioned before names would not carry an article although sometimes it is used but it sounds very unsophisticated anyway the rule is easy if you want to put an article for a mail in the name given name you would use the male the masculine article and female article for a woman's given name okay so sup in here lots of thing is feminine yes for the pan the pan will recruit the stacks the flattened okay last thing this one is a bit tricky okay so for me it's kind of intuitive but it will not be for you maybe because it's not unknown it's 17 now however I'm sure there will be many exceptions so just some other examples like something actually once you learn more vocabulary these will start getting a bit more intuitive so let's finish our class here for now and in our next class I'll teach you the Spanish and personal pronouns okay so this is a the foundation for getting into some grammar lessons okay and I will teach a little bit about the difference between Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Latin America okay so thanks for watching and I'll see you in our next class good luck in this class I will teach you the Spanish subject pronouns or personal pronouns okay the name in Spanish is the noblest personalities suppurativa that is I you he she it we they you okay so those are the personal for or Pronovias personality super deals but usually we simply call them pro nobis personalities okay good so I want once you've read at all I want to explain to you that some of them are used only in Latin America some others only in Spain okay so please stay with me until I explain that to you good job for I too for you singular and informal why because who still means also you but post ed is that form of you okay in for he India for she okay why did I put will spin together with a Linnea actually experience he sorry busted' means you formal and a ADA means he and she respectively the thing is who still the formal you is conjugated the same as he/she okay therefore when we learn how to conjugate verbs we will place will spin together with G and C because they conjugate they have the same conjugation or with aka exactly always okay okay nosotros for we right and now sotas for we when the we is a group of women okay so it's a feminine we okay so for our mixed or a just male group of people we is nosotros and for just female is no so trust okay okay for plural you so for you all we have vosotros okay will so Trust is informal right is the one we would use to pay more often and who say this is you all but formal when addressing group a board of directors for example however vosotros this distinction is only in stained is the kingdom of Spain or the country Spain in Europe right in the only place where they use more soldiers in all of Latin America right where the the most of the spanish-speaking population is located and a few parts of Spain as well vosotros is not used whatsoever only who status is used to for meaning you all so the plural view right there for experience is used both for formal and informal okay so no matter if you're addressing a group of friends a group of relatives a group of children a group of directors of a board or CEOs or politicians senators presidents whatever everybody will be addressed as experience for you all okay in Latin America in Spain let me repeat again vosotros would be the informal and boosters would be the formal okay the thing is most otros have a unique verbal conjugation okay so if you will use mossad rows for addressing somebody we have to learn how to conjugate the verb for servers however instead uses the same verb conjugation as ages or ages which means they okay so a is they for a male group of people or even for a mixed group of people from the male and female men and women okay ages and if the group is formed just of women it is a gas and feminine okay but because a the male form is also used as a generic okay so if you have a mixed group with men and women you would default to the male way of addressing okay ages and as with nosotros okay so linguistically speaking remember that masculine form is by default the generic way of addressing same thing if you do not know the gender of a group of people you default to the masculine for our dressing that route okay any use circles or one of any other way okay okay now let me read it one more time fast yo tú él Ella usted nosotros or nosotras vosotros or vosotras experience and ages or ADA Amy and Posadas as well include a you all in the Spanish in from Spain way also have a feminine okay so if you are addressing a group of women you would say was so trust a group of men or mixed group vosotros okay good now let me remind you that in Argentina and in Uruguay those two countries and Latin America the Y and the Double L instead of being pronounced do okay is pronounced like the English Sh so this will be pronounced show show okay sure in Argentina and in Uruguay and you're in all the other spanish-speaking countries okay good and so I want to remind you again that a Ilia means heat and she and who still is not it right there is no it in Spanish who still this pronoun means you okay same as to only that too is informal who say this forward and I put it still together with here Jean because the conjugation for a spin in life restate the same of the conjugation for he and she which is the first from the conjugation of to okay English has a very simple grammar because in the the tenses are exactly the same for all the subjects or all the personal pronouns right except for this one third person and the singular for the present tense it had a letter s okay the thing is in Spanish those conjugations are all different so that makes it a little bit more complicated as forever okay good and when do we use to and when do we use who still write so to is informal and we would use it most of the times with friends with a co-worker that we are well appointed will with relatives with children right so if we will address children or somebody that is much younger than us unless we want to mark a distance like don't get very acquainted with me don't think don't feel comfortable at with me don't feel at ease then we address those people as expect right but if not we would use to okay and we will use spin for addressing elderly people with respect sometimes okay if it's our grandfather grandmother then you the two most of the table okay if we go shopping and we will address the salesman a sales person anybody that we are not acquainted with in the street or as a shop okay we will address those people formally still okay and also for people that are here Article II higher than us right our boss unless we are very acquainted already a board of directors politicians mr. president okay and of course in the army or whatever is military we always use the state for a hierarchy okay so - and you still mean the same thing but this one is informal and this one is formal okay say man vosotros and ustedes in the same thing that this one is informal and this one is formal and remember this one is not used in Latin America because in Latin America we use stairs goes for formal and informal so thanks for watching and I'll give you some examples and some more a hand size on Spanish grammar in our next gap goodbye this class we are going back to the brown hombre personality suka TiVo's or the personal pronouns in Spanish because I want to focus on the right pronunciation and take a little bit more information okay so in green I have written the phonetics for you to pronounce it the as similar as possible in Spanish while being able to read it in English okay so since English is not my native tongue maybe the phonetics could could have been there written in a better way but this is as good as I could do it so for I show or you write don't remember that the gift some from Y and double-l in Spanish is not exactly eat something it's give it's like I'm sticking the back of your tongue from your back of your palate right and then pronouncing your isang key right so this is yo-yo idea for her idea or she thought a nose or a - okay however if you cannot come up with this sound because it's not in the English language you can simply pronounce it like if it were an eye okay you're you it is not exactly the same thing but it is workable okay so this would be your area right in a DOS or AF okay a O's or a yes right and in Argentina and Uruguay as I mentioned before the Y and Double L sound are pronounced like the English s H ok s H so this would be pronounced show in Uruguay and Argentina this would be Asia Asia angels and Asia okay in Argentina and in Uruguay good now why had I been putting these in writing these Shh at the end of some vowels here in the green for the phonetic because in Spanish all the vowels have to be absolutely flat okay slap one single sound one single tone so this is not shown show or enjoy it's short flat short okay sure not sure show this not - is too - right in Asia right Oh still oh that's why I wrote doesn't Oh hoo-hoo still write still flat and clear and short nosotros not nosotros no it's not so close as flat as you can pronounce each value and for the feminine not so that same thing with all soldiers you all right vosotros not vosotros if wrote so close and vosotras would say this right letter is pronounced with a very open up a a it's not who say this it's okay this a right that's the e sound in Spanish and angels and ages okay angels and aliens for he serve all day masculine and feminine okay or issues and issues if it were Argentina or your body okay now in red I have written three points I wanted to remember first of all that vosotros you all informal is use excluded in Spain so no latin-american country uses vosotros whatsoever okay in Latin America we only use stairs for formal and informal okay now hosts a list is conjugated the same as gay just for ages the same as they okay and instead which is the singular on stairs right there means you follow who still is conjugated like a or a Lea like he or she okay and this same a topic when to use vosotros stairs to stay right the form of the informal Spanish how to distinguish them how to conjugate them I have explained that in Lesson number 316 316 so if you want to get deeper to this you can try to find my class number 316 so how come we are at the beginning of the course here and there is a class number 316 that's because the here are remaking the first lessons of my old course because the recording was quite bad okay so one more last thing I want to explain in this class is in Spanish there is no such thing as English pronounce it right so in English you have he/she/it okay he and she is for man and woman right and it is for animals and things objects okay sometimes when talking of an animal our pet right with affection we can personalize it okay give it a name and we address it as a heat or as a sheet right but if not by default animals are is like objects okay linguistically speaking okay in Spanish it pronoun does not exist okay so things objects animals people are all in area okay if the object is the hand of masculine article like in a real for the river then it is a heap in if it has a feminine article if it is a feminine noun like la casa for the house then it is a Lea she okay so remember Spanish does not happen it pronoun some Spanish speakers mistakenly say the Spanish have the impersonal a article a angel or pronoun okay it is not exactly that okay you have a different use a different function that we will learn later on in the course okay so for now remember that Spanish does not have a an it pronoun okay so that's all thanks for being with me if you like the tasks subscribe we click on the like on the thumbs up and as we glad to see you in a bit our seven Spanish lesson of the new course this is a remake of the older Spanish course that I began recording in there of the shade over three years ago okay so in this seventh class in our class number seven I'll be teaching you the four most important verbs in Spanish los cuatro variables must important' this daily Spaniel so let me remind you that when I speak of Spanish I'm not only to be exact and precise and using the word Cartesian Castilian Castilian Spanish okay because as I mentioned before the word is Spaniard Spanish thus it actually is includes many different languages like Galician is Spanish because if it is an official language from Spain the kingdom of Spain Catalan is also Spanish because it is an other official language within the kingdom of Spain okay so there are several Spanish languages and however the Spanish language that we are learning the the main tongue the one that is spoken not only in Spain but in all Latin America is Castilian Spanish which is gas station therefore or the title for today is los verbos mass importantes de gas station the most important words of Castilian Spanish as usual the most important words in our language are irregular and that's the case with these four words these are irregular verbs in Spanish we have many more regular verbs than in English so English has regular verbs and irregular verbs however in English the irregular verbs represent a greater proportion or percentage of the total land in Spanish Spanish also has a huge amount of array verbs nevertheless the the regular ones represent a much more significant number okay but leave the most important ones are irregular okay so I would get deep into verbal country conjugation right now because this is the beginning of the course and I don't want to get into something so heavy as a verbal pencil but in order to start making in simple sentences and building simple sentences in Spanish we need of your verbs okay that is why I will be introducing in this class at least these four very important verbs in Spanish and I'll explain to you what they are used for and when we have to use them and that's gonna be very useful for the whole rest of the course so ser and estar are two Spanish words that are used to correspond to the English verb to be say the same thing in Spanish now los verbos said e esta correspondent Alvaro to be del English bien Alaric Rio solare Wando correspondence are set equal no correspondence are in vero exam so now we want to know when do we have to use the verb set and when we have to use the verb estar because in English we have for both cases we only have the verb to be which makes it much more simple right I am relieved oh I am here right I am happy I am sad etc okay so and this is the loop set means to be for more permanent cases worse patience a start means to be before more for less permanent form or impermanent or temporary cases and now I give you an example for you to understand this for example I want to say I am relieved oh right like my name is Rodrigo I would say Joe for I saw a lovely room okay slowly means is a conjugation for the first person in the singular for I in present tense for the nerve cell okay so soy is verb 7 job so in medieval my name someone's name is something permanent okay of course somebody can change his name way that's for sure but generally speaking the name is something permanent ok so Joe Silva legal I use word sin because the name is permanent ok just so it will not break ok I am a man yo soy in Albany just soy full of it ok I am a man or I can say I am man in Spanish if if if we leave out the article right is it generic ok I am and then just like all day or just so I own on break someone's gender is supposed to be something permanent therefore is supposedly I'll always be a man right so we also use the verb sab okay just oi anomaly ok now here you can see how it when we use the verb Ser but the work the verb is that I'll show you how we use it now for example I am happy right this is a state that can change from a moment to another then we don't use the verb set we use a table do is toy silly okay Felice or whatever other and adjective okay you want Joe is doing face I don't I can say your soil Felice if I say yo soy series instead of saying that right now I am happy I'm saying I'm implying that and usually right always a happy man okay why because the verb Ser is used for something permanent that I don't have a changes okay so if I say your story police and think right now I'm happy right is my present state if I say just so it varies it's like saying I'm always a happy man right this is my my state of mind is how I always feel okay so therefore we will usually use a toy for this okay now look at this yo estoy contigo yo estoy contigo I am with you contigo means with you okay so yes I am with you this is something impermanent right because I'm it's not a permanent fact that none of you right now I'm with you next year or next minute I can be with somebody else or just by myself okay therefore we do not say just saw it contigo okay we say yo estoy contigo okay so we do not say just soy contigo because soy from verse el means permanent but if we were to say you're single deal that would imply write an impossible state that's why just the sentences of the fist but it would imply we were to use it that just until that I and you are together like bonded right or bonded and we can't separate that would be it was implied by saying just soy Cody okay which is a fiction of course if you have any questions or doubts regarding when to use cell and exam you can ask me any questions you can post them on YouTube and I'll be happy to answer them however in my older lessons there are a few lessons on the same topic and also if you want to practice i really suggest you to go to my website and open the test and exercises that are online and totally for free and there you can practice using set and start in exercises and these exercises and these tests that are free are corrected and don't review automatically online so you will receive the correction a right on spot okay so I really recommend those exercises to test how you have understood these examples okay now the other two verbs are then and 10l the verb avere has two meanings okay as an auxiliary verb it has a same function as the English verb to have what do they mean as auxiliary verb okay compound tenses in English use the auxiliary verb to have okay for example present perfect right I have gone I have eaten I have run I have spoken okay so the auxiliary verb to have right is what we use in English for conjugating any other bird in our compound a tense in Spanish we would use the verb other so for enough to say I have eaten I would say yo ate comedo it will be the present tense conjugation of the verb avere as you can see it is very irregular and we will learn the conjugation in some future class and I have run Joe a Carrillo she has eaten a jack a Camino okay so verb are there in Spanish is used as auxiliary verb for compound in it tenses okay but it also has another use to be something okay and what does it mean okay not to be like here but when you say there is this there is that there are three coins here there is a dot over there okay there we use a verb avere it is a very special function of verb of F so for example if I want to say there is a cat okay all right there is a cat I will say I'm okay I am NOT special conjugation of the verb avere so varied in Spanish we say aye aye une gato okay so who is the in deterrent a article up for masculine Munakata mean up cap okay if I want to say a female cat right I will say una gata with a at the end Munakata for feminine une gato for masculine okay I own gothic I want to say there are many people there are policemen people there are many say many there are many students okay there are many students I would say I muchos estudiantes hi muchos estudiantes I mean there is or there are okay muchos means many comfortable to be artists for students okay I am you josey to be honest there are many students ok so a let is used for as a zero reverb and for saying there is for their art okay now our last verb our and Jose de mujer book is as I open air but I keep some severe than air what do we use the verb tener for okay that literally means to have to have something okay not energy as very Rivera here but as the verb that's it okay so for example let me erase the whiteboard to make some space okay yo tengo un gato I have a cap I have a cat getting wound up I have a blue car your gang go boom our dumb ass soon okay I have a blue car just dangling out dorsally but so this is how you or what we use the verb therefore to say to have something okay also to have to like the verb to have to we would say the LK look NL okay means to have to you have to whatever for example I have to go to the bank I have to go to the bank so to have to I mean like to must do something okay so we will say the healthy for example Joe single which means I have okay here I'll bark oh okay this is the same as saying I have to go to the bank okay to the bank the word L is a contraction of the preposition R which means to to go to right so added the preposition app plus plus the article is which means up so ah it in Spanish is contracted as I okay so is Bangkok means to look back okay so here you have seen how we use the verb tener in Spanish but let me make one observation here the word out for car Alto is a short form for auto Bobby okay out automobile right Auto movie would be the full word however even though auto movie is still used in Spanish and it's correct however we only use simply the word outdoor okay right so say like flame and airplane okay we usually use plane for airplane okay same thing with Auto some countries they prefer to would use the word cargo cargo for car okay and it's okay so in some countries when they want to speak of a blue car they will say it can go a suit many other countries they will use the word out and personally I be the word Alto is more appropriate because how to come from automobile which you know what it means is the the car desiring sweet however the word Carlo is a more more ancient words okay and literally it means cart cart or chariot okay so the word cargo while correct and the chosen in many countries it's a more generic word that can be used for car or cars or chariot or even used for stroller ok the stroller for a baby is also called casual or Carlito which would be the music for car ok so that's why many countries prefer the word Auto which is more it which is actually targeted to the automobile in top ok the the car is trying to Street the modern cards ok however here you can choose any boat and remember that when you're reading or speaking in in a spanish-speaking country you can actually hurt hear the word out or the word tablet and explain the same thing in Spanish now recording click on the cinema by the align panel spanish-speaking country by dialects panel bo Dallas couch are la palabra Auto Oh la palabra careful with Elvis Williamson challahs / original those words and macabre wearisome Chavez can be used para lo mismo for the full same word ok so the same thing so let's end our class here the minimization is progressive if you have any questions 15 s removed us don't hesitate not do them to ask for comments on YouTube and I'll be happy to reply CK naruban emprender or públicas commentary on youtube is very a face responders gracias in Aveiro still a classic alien thank you and see you in our next class the body in today's class let's learn about countable and uncountable systems so the title will be contaminant and in Kentucky contaminate in control for countable and uncountable okay so those objects for this is the same as an English right so things that can be counted like tweeze with are what we call countable and things we cannot count like water like air like money would be uncomfortable or income down list right so we can save one three two trees three trees or one book two books three books that puzzle we cannot say one money - money 393 money's right so that's uncomfortable we cannot say one water towards three waters okay that's uncomfortable we can say though one bottle of water two bottles of water right we cannot say one water two orders okay so that's difference between counsel and uncomfortable and in Spanish it is exactly the same so here I'll be teaching you a which are the words we use for each case and in our next class I'd probably be cleaning teaching you some phrases and the useful sentence of a using and put it all this into practice so let's say the same thing in Spanish now in East a glossy lip we on sanyas las palabras necesarias para el de todo restraint a a loss con tablet euros in contol lays in espanol en la clase que viene a la próxima clase in our next class lavoy encinia algunos ejemplos colores geology classes OT less bony and impractical primo visto a key yes in English for countable and uncountable where we want to say there is something we have to way of saying there is or there are okay so for plural countable we would say there are and for singular countable and for uncountable we will say there is okay like there are many trees there is one three there is plenty of water there is a lot of see there is very little water okay so we use very or there are but in Spanish we only use I en espanol so Levin to Samos I para Myka look existing Delmonico's noxious portable approaches we are in Port Douglas poroshenko for example for him - I only bro there is a book I own a casa there is a house i Mucha agua there is plenty of water I on one there is little word ok i moving boca alwah there is very little water muy means they very okay or i muchos are bollocks there is sorry there are many trees I also love words there is one simple trick so in Spanish we use I for both cases there is for there are high okay so remember the word i which is a very special conjugation of the verb other okay then we have one of us and want us to say how many right remember in Spanish we have masculine and feminine objects or nouns every now in Spanish is either masculine or feminine right in English however we only have the right the the objects the things the nouns are not divided between masculine and feminine so this is they take this into account that in Spanish if we are talking about masculine things right masculine nouns which has not include gender or sex writer just a classification of the nouns okay like television in Spanish la vela Leafeon is female and three lr1 is masculine right has nothing to do with genders just we are classifying the words so when you're talking of the nastier things we use one dose how many for feminine would be one pass for Hellenic right for example one of those Alex how many trees one pass cancers one discusses for how many houses okay now for uncountable writings we cannot count like water like your money like wind etc we use quando and quanta okay wonderful masculine wonderful seven for example cuanto dinero pianist want to be nato penis how much money do you have one - dinero TX okay because email money is masculine we are one dough now water is feminine in Spanish so we would ask quanta agua tienes once the alwah tienes how much water do you have now for a menu plenty right a countable and uncountable in Spanish we have muchos or Mucha for countable like for example tango won't just leave us I have many books this is countable we can count with us I have many books in or deliver us I have many houses think of no just castles like castles 7m liberal book is masculine mucho sleeveless move just gases right now for uncountable mucho for Mucha right again let's use the same example with money be native which is masculine and water agua which is feminine and Mucha agua there is plenty of water I'm mucho dinero there is a plenty or a lot of money okay so mucho or Mucha are for uncountable and for countable we have sorry for tonsils we mentioned muchos and bulges okay now for little and few we have for countable for things and objects focus or focus for example I focus our voice there are few trees focus our words I focus gutters there are few houses okay and for uncountable will be I poco dinero there is little money I up agua there is little water okay so focus in focus countable phone home and folk up uncountable and left I want to show you all Mountain which works usually for either cave for cattle and uncomfy so Oman Tom will be like saying a lot or a bunch something right montón literally means pile a pile of something right and a figuratively we can use it for other things okay that can be counted or not for example I can say almost on the libros for a lot rock pile of books right or I can say poo montón de agua a lot of water right so monotone refers to a lot of something whatever it is alright so let me read all these once again but in Spanish and explaining it in Spanish so if you can start training your hearing tenemos la mulana and case even in distant Amenti para quitarle Ivana encantadas hace que la palabra I'm usin tanto para indica there is oh there are cuantos iguanas solution para hominid para conseguir cosas que puede contar SE y cuando cuando se hace para mas Moreno beat one toss ah da silk separa ojitos focus at Phoenix quanto in quanta say a Hamas say ya lo mismo pero para cosas que no se puede contar como el agua el viento el dinero en favor muchas muchas para many OC Abba indica la cantidad de algo que puede contar say muchos tsukasa-kun tallies Messina's y mooches son cosas con tablet femenina our trios mucho y mucho para cosas que no puede encontrar si como el agua de niro Oh el Aguirre mucho para encontrar las ruinas y mucho para encanta beliefs feminine owes photos i polkas son los Conte blaze mescaline OC femenino respective event a/c estamos in Berlin Dodi through Dallas yes focus focus focus focus video para in Gonzales todo el dinero polka agua ed fader in Oman Tom Wilson Tacoma Molina si como lien comedy means it's like the Joker in the car you have the card there is a card which is a joker that can be used in different scenarios comedy is the Joker in the cards that can be used in more than one situation right so the words that can be used in more in different cases or situations our comoving coordinate right like uman tone which works for countable and uncountable right Uman tone puede referee she opposes Conte bliss como árboles oak asses poor hem blow who knows Don diabolos who knows own de Casas Oh también puede referee psychosis in both alleys como uno Don de agua almost done de dinero mob correct attorney abstract category so here we end our class today I hope you liked the lesson if you did please subscribe to my channel or recommend my channel I'm really looking forward to reach the 1 million subscribers someday eventually and I recorded a video when i received from youtube the youtube silver play button or play super butter I don't know if it's a an award that YouTube sends to the youtubers whenever they reach 100,000 subscribers right now at this point I have 230 thousand thousand subscribers so I'm looking forward to receive the gold play button right but I will only get it when I reach 1 million subscribers so I do really appreciate if you can help me to reach 1 million so thanks a lot and I see you in our next class goodbye hello everybody in this class I will start teaching you the question words in Spanish so these are them if not all at least most of the question words actually right now I can't remember any other one so I will teach you exactly when how these words are used what I mean and now we'll see a few examples using each one of these ok so question words in Spanish in Spanish we would say Pallavas in petrol at Eva's in espanol palabras are words interrogative uh means a question words right in Hispaniola for in Spanish okay first of all Kim for tienes means who okay we use es for the singular and quiénes for the plural right so if we're asking who did this and we are meaning one person inclined one person we would say killed ESO esto now if we know many people did this and we are asking who as which people make this we would ask quiénes dc-based oh okay for example then here diesel 8.2 be who did this right or who matrix okay and the Peru let's let's use another sentence here it from a la fiesta give it oil alopecia who went to the party went to the party okay so quiénes is plural so we're asking who as which persons went to the party okay if we know only one person went to the party and we want to know actually which person went we are here okay so can organic is poo freedom is the past of the verb field which means to go okay however well it also the past tense for the verb to be right cell okay recently I told you the four most important verbs in Spanish one of which was the verb said right and soon I'll teach you how to conjugate this verb in for in all the tenses okay next word quando quando means when when so an example is quando viajar --is when will you travel quando be a half right now quando viajar ass when the ahadith when you traveled jihad is the future tense for jihad to travel okay when will you travel remember in Spanish we not only use the clothing question tag question mark we also use the opening question mark at the beginning of the sentence this is important because as you can see we do not change the structure of the sentence in question sentences in Spanish okay in English we do so in English we we invert the order of the subject and the verb right so when we are reading sudden we see that the sentence begins with the verb and not with the subject and that's how we realize that it's a question and we have to change the intonation of the phrase right in Spanish however the structure is exactly the same therefore we need to open the question mark so that when we are reading we know we have to change the tone okay here when we have whenever we have a question word it's very clear because if any sentence starts begins with any of these words we already know it is a question okay but we have sentences that do not necessarily begin with these words and still are questions like for example for example it is one are you one are you John right now if I remove it the question marks this is not a question anymore it is one we are I'm staying you are one you our John okay so the structure is exactly the same in Spanish for a for statements and for questions sentences right that's why it is important to over the question mark whatever question again next question words don't be we're right for level donde esta mi libro don't maybe stop me liberal where is stop with a business where is my book where is my book don't miss EE blow a stop is verb a stop recently I explained verb a study is one of the four most important Spanish words okay good don't disturb you again you can see I open the question mark as you can see all the question words the Spanish have what we called T bit okay it is a Spanish accent the word till the English means something different I know that this is a deal in English right okay and I know that in English you call this an accent however in Spanish the academic word for this is tilted and the word acento which also exists in Spanish a symptom just means the front tone or he has a strong tone that each word carries for example libro have no feel they instantly however we acento the accent is here on the eye because this is the vowel that carries the stress the toe stress right we do not say Negro we say libro the stress is a letter I write so here is the acento of the world even though there is no deal okay so explain this for you to see that in Spanish ascendant is not thing as accent in English very similar but not exactly the same and this is DZ in Spanish okay in in my in my original lessons I have a series of six lessons where I teach you all the rules of the Spanish T list so if you want to know when and how we have to use the D list which follow very precise rules in Spanish you can go to the index and find those lessons now o means how how for that coercion ask how these if you arrive come on Jay Gatsby commercial active how did you arrive the verb cigar because sagasta is the past tense for the second person for to the early cigar we got it passed and the virginal can mean to arrive and to come so kogasa can mean either how did you come or how did you get here or how did you arrive okay good and regarding the Tina's Spanish had four basic rules of teases for oral Spanish accent the fourth rule of tildes explained that there are making words that carry different meanings and to differentiate the meaning of the same word when it's one minute it carries no till then and we needed the other meaning it must carry the fusing to differentiate the two words for the two meanings from the same word okay so all these words that carry till they hear the question words these words also exist without the TV but then they are not question words anymore they have a different meaning for a different function in a sentence so you will see the words don't they without a TV the words cuando without a toilet the words along the or the words K without a TV however whenever it is a question word it must carry a deal okay next question word okay for canings why let's think an example for K nor'easter a flowerpot what can we set out why not go to work okay why not go or not went to work okay so I believe why didn't you go to work right sweet it as you can see freedom sweet is also the past tense simple past for the verb is the verb to go only that sweet day is a conjugation for second person of in the singular for to for you while well is for third person in the plural for day right good talking of which develop an why didn't you go to work that means to work now back in this one is very similar for 10 is why but it means what for what for example para que is a stone okay finally is it go what for is this it is a simple present for the third person in the singular for he/she/it in this case it will be it and therefore the verb set or the verb to be a to meet this so what for is this or what is this for okay bye ka Cinco what is this for I'd only see as long day is very similar to don't it just carried an a before the deep so why don't the mean where as only means where to for example I don't I wanted PSSs although that gives us viajar I want the peers of casa en sus is simple present for second person in the singular for to write for you gives us things the verb tense are needs to think but it's also human Spanish as to plant right to have intention of something so I want the gains of the Italian where are you planning to travel where you plan travel okay we are we planning to travel actually to be where I'm planning to travel to okay because the letter A at the beginning actually comes from the preposition ah the word arm which is a word of itself is that preposition in Spanish and is the equivalent to the preposition to from English so as only is where - or - where right so where are you plan to travel - okay we can also simply ask along did Yahara where are you going to travel - actually we can omit this and the sentence is still okay now the word K which is one of the most used one K means what okay for example kay is a stone what is this what is this okay is a tone what is this okay remember in Spanish we do not change the reorder of verb and subject right and then English for question words that's why this would be what is this right that would be the correct order of the structure the last one one two or one touch okay this means how many or how much so one dough without the F at the end is for uncountable would be how much and with the s and the end we have made it for for countable okay so remember to to remember this easily remember that plurals are Spanish carry an S at the end there s rules so it's logic that would be one dose with F at the end for things that we can count with that we can Lorelei's okay like tweeze coins like birds whatever right and would be Punto for things that we cannot count like water air money etc okay for example oh and I forgot to tell you that this also one book and want to also a change to feminine to one that in one - okay prepare me so we one ton is one does right quanto and cuántos would be for masculine quanta and 1-4 17 all right now if you're asking something and you don't know if the thing you're asking about whether it is masculine or feminine things actually be good nouns and Spanish has nothing to do with gender right just some some nouns are categorized as a having masculine article and some other feminine article has nothing to do with man or women a movement or a masculine or feminine or male and female okay so and if you're asking about something and you don't know what will be the right article then how do we know whether it will act quantum or Fronter so the answer is by default whenever if we are not sure whether we are asking about something feminine by default we switch to the masculine form okay that the by default in Spanish example what's up our yes once I was in it how much water do you have pls is the verb tener there means to have okay what about DNA so since water agua is uncomfortable we cannot say one water towards three water right so therefore we use one side without the S and Spanish the noun water which is our what is feminine it carried the seminal article therefore we are one tap right with a now let's use countable right one dose the Liberals yes what does level of DNA how many books do you have you see here we are not using quantum or quanta we are using one dose with that because books we can count we can say one book two books three books etc and since liberal is a masculine noun right we use cuantos and not one bus remember that nouns that end in O in Spanish they are masculine nouns that end in a like agua are feminine okay that would be a very basic rule okay let me write down the meaning here so you can see it again en for quien it means cool one dot means when don't be mean we're como means how for kidneys why buy a K means what for as only where to k-means what and cuanto or cuantos would be how many sorry one pose or qantas would be how many and quantum or quantum will be how much how much okay so let's read once again all the sentences Jenny so esto who did this yes freedom and Akita who went to the party cuando be hiya when will you travel don't exactly will where is my book conjugacy how did you arrive 14 of which Arabica why didn't you go to work by actually system why is this for a no-name piensas jihad where are you planning to go to travel or add only via Haris where are you going to travel where will be from ka doum what is this what now at the end how much water do you have and one of those little tienes how many books do you have so this is the end of today's class I hope this made it clear for you to understand how to use each one of the question words in Spanish if you have any questions don't hesitate you can write to me comment in the in the video on youtube right and we glad to answer your questions and if you need to increase the size of of the whiteboard on the right of the lower right corner of your video
