welcome back to Espanol compatri now do you know where I come from guys I think I've told you a few times okay Madrid I come from Madrid and today I am going to teach you how to speak like a real Madrid okay how to speak like a real madrillion are you ready [Music] so you get to a gathering in Madrid you meet new friends we're all about social life in Madrid and what do you say you arrive and you can say what's up que pasa what's up que pasa literal meaning what is happening but it just means hey what's up goodbye sir you can use it on the phone call Que Pasa this one is very very informal the new set in any other formal settings que pasa at in Madrid and I find myself guilty of this one I use all the time how cool get Chulo now this one is also typical of most all the places in Spain getsulo how cool you get a new car deal how cool did you notice I said at the end of that phrase are two of the main way face of saying dude in Madrid okay Thea or Dia which literally means uncle or Auntie okay on that note refer to someone like hey dude hey this guy this girl this boy you could say hey what's up dude what's up man what's up bro que pasa tronco tronco a very Madrid expression you're not going to hear it anywhere else other than in Madrid que pasa tronco tronco okay referring to a man tronco if you're referring to a girl you can refer to her as now this one the argentinians also use it they say was there ever a more madridian expression the booty that means great it's a very formal way and very Madrid way of saying great the booty now now I don't say tengo mucho trabajo I have a lot of work if I'm talking with my medrillion family or friends I would just say oh tengo mucho I know Guru is the name in Spain is the name of a person but we just say I have a lot of work what do you do for a living de que curas another one that I'm guilty of all the time Bali v-a-l-e remember that our V is sound like a bale I'm on the phone to my mom and oh you would hear constantly is [Music] okay get it okay now this one I used to use it a lot more when I was younger now I'm trying to cut it off it's it's the equivalent of like in English Okay but you we can use it on so many more uh contexts it's emblan emblan for example I'm telling a story and I say cabrado he called me like all upset all mad at me and plan like and plan you can use that one for anything really it's used for telling stories and you could introduce that anywhere shall we meet like at 11 and plan this one swear we're alert a little one not too much okay this one it's very very common in Spain but I think it's more common in Madrid than in many other places the The garganta Sounds in Spain okay that throat strong sound that we inherited from the Arabs you hit the table oh there something's not going your way okay or you're surprised about seeing someone okay what does it mean it can mean it could mean or it can mean like oh okay and then the little swear word that we use very very often me Gago and but we never say megago and we join it together and we say you can leave it there okay because that means I poo on or you can complete the phrase imagine that you you hate yourself with a with the corner of the table that happened to me last week I've got quite the quite the bruise now okay but you hit yourself with something with the corner of the table and you say McGowan or you can complete it saying I poo in the milk somebody has done something to you you say Barrio hi Bruno that gave birth to you it's really really not a nice expression to say but it does not sound as bad as it sounds when translated to English it's quite of a cheeky curse word okay so mikawan mccawin we say it all the time McCowan Flippo if there was ever a medrillion expression Flippo if we have different meanings depending on what you're going for for example if you want to say that you're crazy about something that you go mental for something you say me and I'll go to matho in a minute I am obsessed with this song I'm crazy about this song why did I say mother because Mato in madrulian Spanish means a lot you could not sound more informal and you could not be using more slang than you would be doing in that phrase or you could also say is you try you try a meal and you go like okay that means it's so good is but if you say to someone [Music] that means don't go crazy okay don't get cocky don't go crazy you're getting you're not the last cook of the desert mate okay so no te flippers when somebody thinks they are more than they really are or you know they're they're taking it too far okay no teflippes they're taking something too far no teflippers not available eske the reason is it was because it's because there was a lot of traffic okay so that esque in Madrid in informal context when you're talking to your friends you wouldn't say es que you might make it a bit shorter and you might join it together and you say okay if you want to exaggerate a lot again it's that throat sound that angry cat sound I personally tend to not use it because I like saying SK it sounds much much better but this is again a listening exercise you might hear people saying and you're like oh what are they saying if you do something very quickly you won't say de Brisa you might want to say somebody calls you don't understand don't worry Diego I'm arriving I'm getting there in cero coma in zero coma zero comma something zero comma five seconds like a very short amount of time so you say enterocol he will call you very very shortly in a very short period of time quickly or it can mean a very short period of something what was that of something I'm off I'm off I'm done time to go home I'm out you could tell somebody to to to go and get lost and you can say and I get the bides get lost if something is very far in Madrid we wouldn't say esta muy Lejos I mean we could but a very Madrid expression would be that's in parlor it's one of the neighborhoods surrounding Madrid and it's very far from everything to be fair so we say ESO esta en parla that's Impala foreign I'm dead I'm you know uh LOL me parto in Madrid everything is very close or at least that's what madrillians think so we say is do not believe us if we say is there's a good trick there's a good track but literally means that is very nearby ESO esta aqui allow that's very close Jesus we're lying don't believe us somebody that's very Indiscreet somebody that is you know gossiping and telling every secret that you tell them as soon as they know the secret that's a boca chancla a flip-flop mouth Booker Hitler foot mouth I know flip-flop mouth Boga chancla imagine you're organizing a surprise birthday party una Fiesta somebody spoils the surprise for the birthday girl or boy and they tell them and you say you're such a flip-flop mouth okay you've spoken too much you've spoken too much it is indiscreet person imagine if you smoke fumas you say um which was a word for figarillo cigarette okay so people in Madrid say all the time unfortunately people smoke a lot in Spain still it's that social culture of being outside and you know it makes it a lot easier for people to do that social smoking so so you would hear very often me boy my friend said way too often and you would also get asked oh yeah do you have a cigarette is the word for cigarette somebody's getting a little bit oh stressed out and all over the top and you say hey cranky Trancy tronco Frankie means chill chill your beans if something is very convenient for you if something is yeah that that's that's good for me yeah you would say oh that would be really good for me hey do you want to come out with us and you say it's convenient for me and last but not least and this one is the most important if you are visiting Madrid anytime soon or moving to Madrid you need to know this but first do you like learning new Spanish expressions with me then follow me for more and click that like button please if you are from Madrid I'm gonna say that in English if you're from Madrid and you want to say that in Spanish I never say soy de Madrid it's a city that has quite a quirky pronunciation with that D at the end medrilliance real madrilians and real madridians are called by the way Gatos or gatas cats okay Gatos for males and Gatos for females so it would be a Gata a female a medrillion girl una Gata Los Gatos de timos soy de Madrid so you skip that D at the end you don't pronounce the d soy de Madrid with the emphasis on the eye Madrid soy de Madrid or you could also say soy de Madrid and you make that D like a set like a really really really strong set okay so you could say soy de Madrid try not to spit on anyone when you say Madrid Madrid okay Madrid ah that was all about Madrid or madri for you guys I hope you have enjoyed that [Music] ...
